Umbrella stand, umbrella, coat rack

2004, 2006

“At the beginning of this project I wanted to work with enamel, but the maker could
only do very simple forms and the design would not hold water. And so I came to
think of sponges to solve the problem. In the end I found the sponge a lot more
interesting and I never used the enamel.

The umbrella is a mix of 2d and 3d – the blue drop shows what will happen to the water when you put it into the stand just like a cartoon image. It’s like transforming a scetch into reality.

And the coat rack is scetching the image of water, the chiming hooks work like a doorbell.”
